I don't know if this is still the case, but when I was a child, there were popular (but mostly cheap) restaurants with the name “Kadoya (a store on the corner)“ at the corner of intersections in Japan. Of course, there was one in the town where I grew up. It was supposed to be a place to eat, but it seemed to be a place of relaxation for the local people where they could comfortably come and enjoy a meal and a chat in a homey atmosphere.

The corona crisis in 2019 has left a deep scar on the world. Not only did it take the lives of many people, but it also robbed jobs that healthy people would otherwise have had, and even their future dreams. In the field of education, students were deprived of the opportunity to learn and teachers were deprived of the opportunity to teach. In the meantime, even both students who had managed to receive education and teachers who had managed to provide education were exhausted by the challenge of the sudden shift to online education. However, amid these difficulties, I want to look for the silver lining. The digital environment for remote work is advancing rapidly, and the possibility of learning from a distance has expanded rapidly.

In this course, I would like to make full use of the new environment that has emerged and realize Japanese language learning in a way that has not been possible in traditional face-to-face classes. The field of education is now standing at a crossroads. People who have been out of reach, people who have had doubts about the conventional way of learning, and people who want to just enjoy learning. I would like to provide such people with a place to learn.

It is a place “Kadoya” of rest and relaxation which stands quietly on a corner. Such an ideal is the starting point of this course.
